Welcome Home: A Haven for Young Parents
Becoming a parent is a life-changing journey—filled with excitement, challenges, and moments of uncertainty. For young mothers aged 16 to 25 who are pregnant or parenting a newborn, having access to safe housing and meaningful support can make all the difference.
Thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Sifton Family Foundation, Why Not City Missions has taken a vital step forward in expanding and securing their Supportive Housing for Young Parents (SHYP) program in Brantford.
This funding allowed for essential fire code upgrades—including fire doors, alarms, extinguishers, and a monitoring system—helping to transform a beautiful heritage home into a safe, welcoming space where young families can grow and thrive.
At SHYP, young mothers find so much more than shelter. They gain access to resources, guidance, and a supportive community—all designed to help them build a stable and hopeful future for themselves and their children.
