Building Futures: How Free to Grow Creates Opportunities for Local Youth
The Sifton Family Foundation’s $10,000 investment in the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across the community.
Through its support of the Free to Grow program, more than 150 children and youth have been able to access life-enriching opportunities that might otherwise have been out of reach due to financial hardship.
Free to Grow helps remove cost as a barrier so children can fully participate in activities that help them learn, grow, and thrive. Thanks to this support, local children have been able to take part in swimming lessons, team sports, arts programs, summer camps, and STEM initiatives such as LEGO Robotics. Others have enrolled in life skills training, including babysitting certification courses that build independence and open doors to early employment opportunities.
These experiences go far beyond recreation. They build confidence, foster resilience, and create a strong sense of belonging. By developing new skills, forming friendships, and overcoming challenges, children gain a lasting sense of achievement—one that stays with them long after the activity ends.
By helping remove financial barriers, programs like Free to Grow ensure that more young people can participate, explore their interests, and build the skills and confidence that support their future success and well-being.
The Sifton Family Foundation is proud to support the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington in creating opportunities that help children and youth reach their full potential.
