Reimagining a Sifton Landmark for Affordable Housing
In the heart of downtown London, Ontario, a familiar building has been given a new purpose—one that reflects the growing need for safe, attainable housing and the power of community collaboration.
Homes on Dufferin, located at 195 Dufferin Avenue, has been transformed from a former office building into 94 much-needed homes. Once home to Sifton Properties Limited’s head office, the building has been thoughtfully redeveloped into a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments designed to be both affordable and attainable for residents.
The Sifton Family Foundation was proud to support this transformation with a $100,000 gift, helping to bring new life—and new opportunity—to a well-known downtown space.
At least 40% of the units are designated as affordable, with rents set below average market rates. The remaining apartments are designed with efficiency in mind, helping to keep rents within reach for individuals and small households.
Located along key transit routes and close to essential services, Homes on Dufferin offers residents not just housing, but connection—to community, employment, and everyday life.
This project reflects what’s possible when organizations bring different strengths to a shared challenge. Sifton Properties Limited led the redevelopment of the building, repurposing the space for residential use. Homes Unlimited (London) Inc. will own and operate the property, continuing its mission to provide safe and stable housing. The land is leased from The Anglican Diocese of Huron, whose support was essential in making the project possible.
Through its contribution, the Sifton Family Foundation is proud to stand alongside these partners in supporting long-term, community-based housing solutions.
